Egyptian Salt
GENERAL INFORMATION:
- Origin: Egypt
- The product to be stored in a dry place
- Grey salt or raw salt normally are not supplied
- Shelf Life: Minimum two years from date of shipping
- The product is free from radioactive residues/elements
- The “Food-Grade” salt is “Fit For Human Consumption”
- Edible Iodized Salt. Sodium chloride from the sea or from mines
- Salt can be of various qualities, and prices can fluctuate significantly
- The product does not contain Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)
- Usual denominations: “Food Grade Salt”, “Cooking Salt”, “Table Salt”
- Tests / Analysis of the product/s are available upon request. (Subject to contract)
- All related Lab analysis and reports are available upon request. (Subject to contract)
- The product does not contain any substances originating from micro-organisms or any
other poisonous or deleterious substances such as anti-nutritional factors, heavy metals,
pesticide residues or toxins in amounts, which may represent a hazard to health

Commonly Used Specifications for Iodized Salt
SPECIFICATIONS:
For all aspects of the product, unless otherwise described below, the standard of Codex Alimentarius last edition applies, including the packaging. Specifications are in accordance with the WHO recommended iodine content. Specifications vary with national regulations.
COLOUR:
The salt shall be white and 10g of salt in 100ml water shall give a colourless solution
PARTIELE/GRAIN SIZE:
100% of grains should pass a sieve of 1mm mesh
MOISTURE CONTENT:
Between 0.1% maximum (dried at 110°C) and 0.5% maximum (dried at 140°C).
SODIUM CHLORIDE (NaCl):
99.2% min (on dry basis)
ALKALINITY as (Na2 Co3):
0.05 mg/kg maximum (on dry basis)
WATER INSOLUBLE MATTER:
0.02 % maximum (on dry basis)
POTASSIUM IODATE (KIO3) FORTFICATION:
50 -83 mg/kg maximum (equivalent to 30-50 mg/kg Iodine)
HEAVY METALS
LEAD: 1.0 ppm max.
COPPER: 2.0 ppm max.
ARSENIE: 0.5 ppm max.
MERCURY: 0.1 ppm max.
CADMIUM: 0.5 ppm max.
